Meet some of the desert’s most ancient inhabitants and enjoy a true Bedouin feast on this 4.5-hour adventure to the mountains from Dahab: upgrade to spend the night in a Bedouin camp. Traveling by 4-wheel drive and camel, enjoy Bedouin tea, Bedouin bread, and a Bedouin barbecue by the light of a million desert stars.

Your driver-guide will collect you from your Dahab hotel at 7:00pm for an adventurous 4-wheel-drive trip through the desert. Here, you’ll mount a camel for the 45-minute ride to the mountains where the Bedouins have their camp, arriving in time for sunset at most times of year.

Your Bedouin hosts will welcome you to their camp, seating you on carpets around a cozy fire, and serving Bedouin tea. This sugary drink is a mixture of black ‘gunpowder tea’ with desert herbs like marmaraya and habak: the flavors are similar to thyme and mint. Watch as they lovingly froth the tea and serve it in small glasses.

Next, enjoy a Bedouin-style feast. Your hosts will prepare Bedouin bread using their open fire, along with rice and meat, fish, or vegetable dishes based on fresh produce grown or reared around Dahab. Savor your barbecue dinner, along with included soft drinks and water, and perhaps brave a shisha pipe.

Marvel at the millions of stars that glisten in the night sky, and see how bright the desert can be at night, before saying your farewells
